A great event for brushing off the cobwebs and kick-starting the new year!  Lots of inspiring, fresh and innovative ideas to take back to your classroom.

Two concurrent sessions run for teachers, covering activities for the early years (Prep-Yr4), middle years (Yr5-8), ideas for the music classroom and choral repertoire, plus plenty of ideas for teacher new to music.

There will also be a number of traders in attendance, providing a great opportunity to purchase some excellent resources at special prices.

VOSA Presenter: Susie Davies-Splitter

Susie has a passion to enrich and transform lives and connect people to their inner creative beauty through the joy of music. She helps people unlock their hearts to go to a deep place of ruach (spirit and breath) where they can be in flow, express their true potential, connect with others and experience a sense of joy, compassion, love and wellbeing.  With a Masters of Education from Melbourne University, Susie is a music and movement educator, Orff practitioner, jazz musician, award winning composer and twice past president of the Victorian Orff Schulwerk Association (VOSA) in Australia. She is an ANCOS (Australian National Council of Orff Schulwerk) accredited trainer and leads regular training in Australia, Singapore and China.

Kodaly Presenters: Susan Searle & Alex St Vincent Welch

Susan Searle has nearly 30 years of experience as a music teacher in a great range of schools, including co-educational, girls-only and boys-only schools in the state and private sectors.  She enjoys thinking of excellent ways to deliver an engaging and focused curriculum that will result in true musicianship for all students.  Susan is Choral Co-ordinator at Kilvington Grammar, teaching Music in the Junior School and Choir from Year 1 to 12. She has lectured in Kodály Primary Teacher Training for the KMEIA Victorian Branch since 2011.

Alex St Vincent Welch has an honours degree in Music and Education from the University of Queensland. He was head of Preparatory Music at the Anglican Church Grammar School in Brisbane before teaching at St Andrew's College, in Toronto, the largest boys' school in Canada. He then taught at the London Oratory School in London, whose choirs performed on the Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter soundtrack. He now teaches at Melbourne Girls Grammar School in their junior school. He has a particular interest in engaging great classical music and film music into the music classroom.
