Lynn Kleiner (USA) will introduce delightful rhymes, folk songs, dances, world music, classical pieces as well as instruments for the youngest music makers.  Children become sensitive listeners, considerate participants, and successful musicians. The use of language, movement, rhythm and melody in a game-like atmosphere develops mental concentration, coordination, self-concept and creativity, while building an excellent foundation for future musical pursuits. From the beginning, the ideas and contributions of even the youngest music maker are recognized and encouraged.  Everyone, including the adults are viewed as successful music makers.

Day 1: ‘Babies and Toddlers make music’-Sat 16th Aug as part of the ECCPA conference at Gennazano College, Kew 9-5.30pm – registration at 8.30am 

Gather information on infant and toddler musical development as you experience active music making activities for these important years of learning. Foster listening and motor skills, enhance language development and gain a sense of balance and timing while having fun. Puppets, felts and props add to the fun and magic of this special musical bonding time while laying a solid foundation for a lifelong love of music.

All course participants will attend the following sessions: 

All In – (45 mins) My trip to the Mountains

Singing, dancing and playing using the mountain theme

Session 1 (75 mins) Babies and Toddlers make music – part 1

Session 2 (75 mins) Babies and Toddlers make music – part 2

Session 3 (75 mins) choose a session of your choice

Session 4 (75 mins) Uke’n Orff (this session is open to all)

Sing, dance and play ukuleles in the Orff fashioned way. Beginners, experienced players and everyone welcome

All out – (30 mins) ECCPA offering

Optional – Shenanigans reunion dinner 

Day 2:  Kids Make Music – ages 2-4 - Sun 17th Aug –as part of the  ECCPA conference Gennazano College, Kew 9-4pm 

Movement, singing and playing develop listening and memory skills, pitch matching, coordination while encouraging the young child’s natural and instinctive  response to music.  Musical games, puppets, props, visuals and stories foster imagination and creativity. 

All course participants will attend the following sessions:

Session 1 (75 mins) Kids make music – part 1

Session 2 (75 mins) Kids make music – part 2

Session 3 (75 mins) ‘The Orff spirit’– keeping with the beloved spirit – singing, movement, improvisation and instruments

(this session is open to all)

All out – (30 mins) The Orff Spirit as we say goodbye 

Day 3:  Big kids and young musicians - ages 3-6, Mon 18 Aug at the Caulfield Park Pavillion, Caulfield 9-5pm 

In addition to the activities above, Orff instruments are introduced in a  creative, game like atmosphere.  Listening games, singing, movement, as well as the fun of puppets, stories and visuals continue to add to the fun. 

Day 4:  Rhythm readers, Melody Makers & recorder players - ages 5-8, Tues 19 August at Caulfield Park Pavillion, Caulfield 9-5pm 

Includes rhythm, melody, harmony, movement, timbre and  instruments, including recorder, from an Orff approach.  Simple music reading and writing games and improvisation bring challenge and fun to each lesson.

About Lynn

For more than 30 years, Lynn and her team of Orff-trained teachers have taught thousands of children, infants through teens, in day cares, schools and camps, and at Music Rhapsody centers. She has received several awards for her Remo line of children’s instruments, her publications and recordings through Alfred Publishing. These include the prestigious Oppenheim Award, the Dove Award, the Creative Child and iMedia Awards. Lynn is a frequent presenter for state, national, and international music educator conferences.  She is the creator of Lynn Kleiner’s Music, a popular, extensive online resource for music teachers based on an Orff Schulwerk approach, infants-age 10. Lynn offers a comprehensive early childhood music program, infants through age 6 called Simply Music Rhapsody.

Note: There is no day rate for those attending ECCPA/Lynn Kleiner Course.  The day rate is applicable only to those attending ECCPA only.


Please note that the 2 Day ECCPA conference & Day 1 & 2 of Lynn Kleiner's Teacher Training Course are being held in Kew and the 3rd and 4th day of Lynn Kleiner's Teacher Training Course is being held at a separate venue in Caulfield.  Kew and Caulfield are approximately 30 mins apart so you may want to consider separate accommodation if attending the full 4 days.  If remaining in Kew, Caulfield Park Pavillion is approximately a 30-40 minute tram ride (2 trams) or a 20-30 min taxi ride.
